Internet Relay Chat
Windows Users
IRC (internet relay chat) is really neat. You get a client (a program), you connect to a network
through a server, join a channel, and chat. It's actually really easy and fun...
- Step 1 - Get mIRC (www.mirc.com) - an IRC client for windows
- Step 2 - Run the program and install it ... (simple)
- Step 3 - Run mIRC and enter any info it asks for ...
- Step 4 - Either click on the little lightning bolt, or type /server irc.dal.net
- Step 5 - Type /join #newbies - there you go, you're on IRC!
If you're looking for scripts or information, here are some pretty good sites:
Here are some things you should probably get.. they're cool. - mIRC 5.31 +
And if you're one of those big BitchX (IrcII) fans but you have Win95, you'll love this one...
Unix/Linux Users
If you're using a unix/linux shell, getting on IRC couldn't be easier! Just type "irc" withouth the quotes! I'll get some info on eggdrops up soon, but for now, just go
to www.xcalibre.com - You'll find it there!
Interesting Channels
Here are some small, yet good, channels you might like (just type /join #channelname to join)
- #TEENS2 - This is our home channel. It's cool.
- #COOLTALK - This is my other home channel (uhh..) - Don't ask about Netscapes cooltalk! Blah!
- #EdNS - Our script's home channel! AHH! The bot died =(
